Zanesville Museum of Art Unveils 10-Year Vision for Growth

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Zanesville Museum of Art has announced an exciting and major step forward in its evolution for the future.
Laine Snyder, The Executive Director of the Zanesville Museum of Art, says the Board of Directors recently passed a resolution to stay at the Military Road location.
She says over the last few years, many discussions and interviews have taken place in order to make the best decision for the building as well as the community that helps bring it to life.
“Things are going to start changing, I hope, immediately including things behind the scenes like, we’re adding two new, critical staff positions.” Snyder said. “We’re adding to the Board of Directors, so we’re going to expand both of those so we can do more and try to achieve more for the community. We’re also going to be participating in a Master Plan, and that planning process, think of it as just a big road map of what we’re going to do over the next 10 years.”
Snyder says this 10 year plan will incorporate feedback from the community with ideas the Board of Directors already had in mind for the Museum.
She says some of those things include a sculpture park, walking paths, as well as the possible addition of an amphitheater to the back of the building.
“We’ve got 5.7 acres here on this piece of property and we’re really excited about developing it.” Snyder said. “Right now, it’s completely underutilized so we’re really excited about maximizing the space and then also changing this facility. You know, one of the key initiatives that the Board decided, that’s significant for us, is our American Art Pottery Heritage and Legacy. It’s the single largest growing collection for this Museum, we need additional open storage space for it, and many of our donors who donate these significant pieces of art pottery, from Zanesville, would like to see a dedicated gallery that demonstrates just how significant this community was in the arts and crafts movement.”
If you’d like to see any of the exhibits or work on display, the Museum of Art is located art 620 Military Road.
