ZANESVILLE – The Port Authority has made strides in several different projects this year from land development to adding to the county’s roads.

“The land that had been developed by the Port Authority in cooperation with the County Commissioners and the City of Zanesville just east of Zanesville, about a 203 acre development site that we’ve worked on. We’ve had road projects this year at East Pointe Business Park. We also had a water project at the Eastside Business Park and all of these enhancements that are taking place is for our business recruitment efforts as well as our business retention efforts in our infrastructure upgrades to keep those companies here,” Port Authority Executive Director Matt Abbott said.

The Port Authority is no stranger to the challenges presented by COVID and how it has made everything in 2020 different. Abbott says the Port Authority has responded well.

“We have a lot of different companies that exist here. Some companies have seen and in flux in their business as a result of the pandemic. Others have seen some struggles and some toughness and I think our office has been out there. We’ve been talking about programs that are offered at the local, the state, and the federal level to assist these companies during the pandemic to make sure that these companies are staying with us, staying operational, and hopefully have an edge to get back and we’re really looking forward to 2021,” Abbott said.

Abbott said he is hopeful for 2021.
