Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority Secures Funding for Business Park Expansion

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Zanesville Muskingum County Port Authority has received a major financial boost to expand job-ready opportunities in the area.

The Port Authority has been awarded $3.6 million from the All Ohio Future Fund to create a 72-acre job-ready pad at the National Road Business Park. This funding, along with an investment from the county commissioners, will also help address environmental concerns and increase sewer and wastewater capacity by 290,000 gallons per day.

“This is going to create a pad and mitigate a lot of risk for businesses that are looking to locate in our community. We’re able to leverage funding that was already going to be invested through the county commissioners for a wastewater project of $2.7 million. So, that area is going to receive a lot of attention for wastewater concerns and also the creation of this new site. This is going to allow the east end to continue to grow in the county and get additional capacity for wastewater in the area,” Port Authority Executive Director Matt Abbott said.

Officials say this investment is expected to bring major improvements to the county and make the area more attractive to potential businesses. They hope to have the project go out to bid by May.

“We continue to look for ways to utilize some of the tools that’s been generated through the state of Ohio Department of Development and Jobs Ohio. We’re very excited to be able to put these funds to use for the betterment of the residents here and for the betterment of our entire region to be a destination for new employers that may be looking to come to our community,” Abbott said.

With this funding, Muskingum County is taking another step toward expanding job opportunities and boosting local industry.
