Zanesville Offers Residents Different Ways to Dispose of Christmas Trees

Xmas Tree Disposal

Xmas tree disposalZANESVILLE, Ohio- The holidays are over and that means decorations are coming down and time to get rid of the Christmas tree.

Zaneville Mayor, Jeff Tilton said there are several different ways to go about disposing of your tree.

“Drop them off at the fairgrounds, at Central Avenue which is our sanitation department, or Maple Hill Park. Also if you can’t get them there, you can put them out with the trash. We like to see them about four foot in length. If they are bigger than that we would like to see them cut. We will pick them up on trash day,” said Tilton.

Mayor Tilton said be sure to remove all tree decorations. Disposing of the tree properly is especially important because they tend to get dry.

“There could be fires. Hopefully people have taken them down. It’s just a bad thing to leave a dry tree in your house. It will be better for you to take them down and put them outside. We would hope that that will take off all the icings and any garland they have on them. The Department of Natural Resources uses the trees to fill in their lakes to promote fish habit.

The Christmas tree drop off locations are Muskingum County Fairgrounds on Pershing Road, Maple Hill Park on the corner of Taylor and Maple Hill Street, and Central Avenue at the Sanitation Department.
