Zanesville Prize for Contemporary Ceramics Competition

The Muskingum County Community Foundation, Artist Colony of Zanesville and the Zanesville Ohio Ceramic Arts have partnered with the International Potters Council to hold the Zanesville Prize for Contemporary Ceramics Competition.

The exhibition had more than 14,000 submitted to the competition, artists from every continent excluding Antarctica hoped their work would be selected. Susan Gottlieb, Curator of the Exhibition says the pieces were chosen by a jury of three prominent figures in the art community.

"We have 100 juried finalists in the exhibition, we have people from all over the United States as well as a number of other countries represented" says Gottlieb.

Gottlieb says that this event is continuing the rich ceramics history here in Zanesville.

"We have always gloried in our history. We are now changing the face of contemporary ceramics in America. Can’t be more precise than that."

The exhibition begins Friday with a sponsorship reception from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m., and will open to the public Saturday. The exhibition is free and will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. from September 27 through October 15.
