Zanesville Sertoma Club seeks nominations for ‘Service to Mankind’ award

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Zanesville Sertoma Club is seeking nominations for its ‘Service to Mankind’ award.
The Sertoma Club looks to recognize an individual that is serving the community through community service projects. The Sertoma Club said this is the most prestigious award given by from a Sertoma Club. They are looking for someone specifically from Muskingum County who does community service outside of their everyday job.
“It’s mostly their service to the community. The award is called ‘Service to Mankind’ so it deals with service to other people. So we’re looking for a candidate that has gone above and beyond the line of duty to help their fellow Zanesville or Muskingum County community people,” said Zanesville Sertoma member Mike Maniaci.
To be nominated the person cannot be a member of Sertoma. The nominator will write an essay that will be read and voted on by a committee.
“They write an essay about the person and what they’ve done. We’d like their statistics so to speak: name, where they live, phone number, contact number. And what they have done for the community. And we try to keep it under 1,000 words.”
The nomination essays need to be sent to the Zanesville Sertoma Club by April 30th. Their mailing address is P.O. Box 223, Zanesville, OH 43701. The award ceremony will take place sometime in June.
