Zanesville South Business Association Announces Holiday Parade

SOUTH ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville South Business Association has entertained the residents of their community for generations with the annual Storybook Christmas Parade.
South Zanesville Fire Department Chief Russell Taylor announced this year’s event along with how people can participate.
“The Zanesville South Business Association puts on a Christmas parade here on the south end of town every year,” Taylor said. “We’ve been… had the privilege of being part of it for the last several years on the planning committee. Last year, I would say there was roughly eight to ten thousand people along 22. From all the parades I’ve been to around here, it’s the largest parade in this county.”
This year’s parade will start 2 p.m. Sunday, November 24th, at the Sheetz gas station and will lead down Maysville Pike to the Wal-Mart. Even Santa Claus, himself will be on hand, parading aboard one of the many fire trucks. Taylor is encouraging small businesses and surrounding first responders to get creative and show off in this year’s event.
“Last year, we had some unique floats that showed up last year,” Taylor said. “And the businesses get really into the parades. They love seeing everybody out there. It gives the businesses a chance to advertise what they do and all that. We are looking here in the future to changing the banners on the poles, which there’s going to be a cost to that but that’s what the sponsorships go to and the entries. Along, we have to pay for the permits, we have to pay for the law enforcement, it gets a little expensive. It’s three to four thousand dollars just to get to put one day on.”
Deadline to enter the parade has been extended to Monday, November 18th. The participation fee is free for first responders and non-profits along with $50 dollars for all other entries. Entry forms can be picked up at the South Zanesville Village Office and more information can be found on the Zanesville South Business Association Facebook page.
