ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Democrats held a ‘Labor Day Workers Over Billionaires’ rally at the Muskingum County Courthouse.

The rally was held not only to support the American workforce but to bring attention to the Trump Administration’s ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ legislation that looks to jeopardize veteran and working class benefits to prioritize tax cuts for the wealthiest elites.

“So the message is, let’s support the workers not billionaires. Workers need to be the ones who are comfortable, who have a good life, who have healthcare, who have retirement plans. Billionairess are billionaires. They can be on their own and they need to pay their own fair share of taxes,” Muskingum County Women’s Democratic Club President Amy Underwood said.

The rally was just one of many Labor Day gatherings that were held by independent, grassroots organizations across the country, in lockstep with the 50-50-1 initiative.

“And if you want facts, go to the Associated Press in the morning. AP, US-news. Trump banned them from the White House for a while but then they got an injunction to get back in. And you’ll get straight-up news reporting, factual, which is, I think, is important and if you think something might not be true that you read, you might want to go to factcheck.org. They’re neutral. They get everybody, whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican or you name it,” Muskingum County Democratic Party Chairman Michael Nern said.

The Muskingum County Democrats have been holding these gatherings in front of the Muskingum County Courthouse since February, with some events attended by upwards of 300 people.
