ZFD: Natural Gas Leak near ZHS -Stay Inside

Zanesville Fire Chief Doug Hobson says a big natural gas leak has happened near Zanesville High School Wednesday afternoon. He says a construction crew building a trail between the high school and Ohio University Zanesville accidentally ruptured the line and natural gas is spewing into the air. Hobson says residents in the area of ZHS should stay inside until the issue is resolved and that includes people who live from Blue Avenue to Ohio University Zanesville. Hobson says the Energy Cooperative is on the scene and has determined an 8 inch gas line was severed. It was a major line from a pumping station near the Zane State Science Center to under the Muskingum River. Hobson says gas was cut to Genesis Hospital which was able to switch over to Columbia Gas.
