ZFD Releases Cause of Maple Avenue Fire

The Zanesville Fire Department has determined the cause of Monday’s house fire at 924 Maple Avenue.  Assistant Chief Doug Hobson says the cause of the blaze is “electrical in nature with a space heater nearby”

Fire crews were called to the duplex around 3:00 pm.  There were two residents stuck on the second floor deck and had to be rescued.  Firemen also saved two cats and a dog.

When firefighters arrived on scene there were flames and smoke coming from the side of the duplex.

The two residents were transported to Genesis hospital for smoke inhalation.
