ZHS Band Initiates New Waffle Wagon

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds to celebrate a new piece of equipment, which serves savory treats that inspire sugary smiles.
For years, Zanesville City Schools have operated their Waffle Wagon, which helped to raise funds in support of their music programs. Zanesville Band Booster President Kyle Ledford spoke about their brand new waffle wagon, which is making its inaugural appearance at the fair.
“It’s very exciting in the fact that our old trailer was 20-plus years-old. We were due for a new one probably a couple of years ago. But it’s been a job to get to the point where we could purchase a new one. We’ve had help from the community and several places. The VFW and the Eagles, they all helped with donations to get the trailer moving,” Ledford said.
The concession trailer houses all new equipment such as fryers, refrigerators and even a new cash register that allows for digital transactions. The trailer allows for the delicious desserts to be served throughout the year at a variety of community events.
“It’s made to raise funds,” Ledford said. “The Waffle Wagon is our biggest fundraiser for the entire season, the entire band programs. We support not just the high school band programs but some junior high and some elementary band programs. We support all the band programs at Zanesville City Schools. There are a lot of behind the scenes things for kids that a lot of people don’t realize that cost money. We feed the kids a lot for competitions and games and this is our fundraiser for being able to provide those things to them.”
If you would like to see the new Waffle Wagon, support the Zanesville City Schools Band programs or just sample a county fair delicacy, you can find all three at the 180th Blue Ribbon Muskingum County Fair.
