ZPD Investigates Case of Abuse of Children

The Zanesville Police Department said it’s investigating a case of torture and abuse of children.
Detective Phil Michel says a 10-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy suffered starvation, torture and abuse in their home at 948 Adair Avenue.
He said on September 28th Muskingum County Children’s Services received a report of the incidents which started the investigation.
On Wednesday 31-year-old Priscilla Meachem, the mother of the children and her boyfriend, 38-year-old Elijah Waltz were each arraigned on 22 counts of Felonious Assault, Kidnapping and Endangering Children.
Both pled not guilty and Muskingum County Common Pleas Judge Mark Fleegle set their bonds at $500,000 each.
The two are being held in the Muskingum County Jail.
The children have been placed in the custody of Muskingum County Children’s Services.
