ZPD Issues Statement On Traffic Death

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-This past Saturday a man was struck by two cars while crossing the street in Zanesville.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene. Zanesville chief of police Tony Coury has more information.
“We identified the individual who was struck in the 900 block of Linden Avenue as Adrian Ramos, age 38 of Zanesville. It appears that on Saturday evening at 7:57 hours we were sent to a pedestrian versus vehicle strike in front of the Lind arena in the 900 block, and upon arrival the officers were able to determine that Adrian Ramos was walking eastbound across the roadway.”, Coury said to reporters.
Ramos was struck by the first car driven by 26-year-old Kailee Howe and jettisoned into the pathway of the second car driven by 38-year-old Brenda Powell. Coury says that at this time there will be no charges pressed against the drivers.
“She was actually being followed by a state highway patrol officer, so we were able to capture video and see the scene. It appears that Mr. Ramos was not walking in the crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing, and then subsequently was struck and pronounced dead at the scene.”
The incident is still under investigation.
