ZPD Takes Man In Custody After Hostage Situation

The Zanesville Police Department ended the hostage situation at a Devin Street home with the arrest of the suspect   

It happened just after 2:30 p.m. when officers went into the house through the front door.  They had shot tear gas into the home just a few minutes earlier. 

Around 11:00 a.m. ZPD was called to the home where a male and a female were being held hostage.  After a while they were released and taken to Genesis Hospital to be checked out.  The suspect also released his dogs. 

Police called in a negotiator earlier during the standoff.  The suspect was placed in a ZPD cruiser and taken away.  The incident remains under investigation.
