ZPD: Two in Custody After Weekend Shooting Incident

The Zanesville Police Department said two Zanesville men are in custody after a weekend shooting incident. 

Detective Phil Michel said it happened Saturday at just after 3:00 a.m. at an after-hours club at 753 Putnam Avenue.  He said officers responded to a report of shots fired and when they arrived on the scene found multiple shell casings on the ground and bullet holes in the building.

Detective Michel said a suspect vehicle was located and two men taken into custody. 24-year-old Ryan Lynum is facing one count of discharging a firearm over a road or highway, with a firearm specification, two counts of having a weapon while under disability, two counts of improper handling of a firearm and one count of tampering with evidence.  He is being held in the city jail on $200,000 bond. 

The other suspect is identified as 23-year-old Jack Ashton.  He is charged with complicity to discharge a firearm over a roadway and tampering with evidence.  He is being held in the city jail on $100,000 bond. 

The case is expected to go before a Muskingum County Grand Jury this week or next.  

No injuries were reported.
