ZTNT Model RR Club Open House

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Muskingum County has many public attractions but downtown Zanesville holds a hidden gem.
The Zane Trace National Trail Model Railroad Club will be holding their Annual Spring Open House this weekend. It is located on the 2nd floor at 24 South Sixth Street and Club Treasurer Rick Gooden shared some of the features that make the 2,000 square foot display stand out.
“There’s a lot of nice scenery.” Gooden said. “You can turn the lights off in the room and there’s enough lights on the layout to run it at night. Just to run it like nighttime. It’s computerized and everything is run off Wi-Fi and boards. There’s computer boards underneath the layout that operate, run the power, and again just run it like a real railroad.”
Gooden noted that newly added features to the display reflect the club’s growth as younger members incorporate their influence to the operation and presentation of the layout.
“We’re looking for new members,” Gooden said. “All they need to do is find an officer up there and ask them what they have to do to join. It’s not real hard. I can tell you there’s never been… I’ve never seen anybody not voted in, so. But we do have, including a couple of junior members, we’re at about either 29-or-30 people. Not everybody is up there at once.”
The display will be operating from 11-to-4 both Saturday and Sunday with a donation as the price of admission.
