Zville Hosts Olympic Boxing Tournament
Boxers stepped into the ring with a lot on the line Saturday and Sunday…
Zanesville’s Police Athletic League won the bid to hold the Ohio #17 Junior Olympic Boxing Tournament at the James Singer Activity Center. Division champions will move on to compete in the regional tournament.
"They’ll be coming in from all over the state for this one. And that’s all the way up to Toledo, down to Cincinnati, you get the picture. And it’ll probably bring about 200 participants," said Tim Hartmeyer with P.A.L.
Hartmeyer coaches Team U.S.A. here in Zanesville. Eight boxers from our area participated in this weekend’s tournament.
"We are probably the best we have ever been. We have a lot of the weight divisions covered with top-notch, well experienced, very strong boxers. And we hope to do very well."
The regional competition will be held in Dayton, Ohio.
