Ashville Man Indicted in Morgan Co. Shooting

Morgan County- A Morgan County Grand Jury has indicted an Ashville, Ohio man in connection to a shooting.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said that 60-year-old Russell Hunter was indicted on a felonious assault charge.

Authorities said on Tuesday, March 12 around 11:20pm they were called in reference to a man with a gunshot wound. It took place on State Route 669 in Malta Township.

Sheriff Douglas McGrath said that two adult males had gotten into an altercation and a gun was produced. 59-year-old Donnie Southers ended up with a gunshot wound to the neck area. He was stabilized and taken by Life Flight to Columbus.

Hunter is now being held on a $350,000 bond in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.
