McCONNELSVILLE, Ohio – Wednesday night’s line of thunderstorms dumped more than seven inches of rain on McConnelsville, which also flooded the Morgan County Fairgrounds.

Morgan County Fair-Board President Garth Ruff explained that they had to really scramble to save animals and that the Poultry Barn and the Merchants Building were the hardest hit but many campers and automobiles were impacted too.

Thursday morning was spent assessing damages and cleaning up the muddy mess. The rides were evacuated and will not return. Evening entertainment events in front of the main grandstands have been cancelled for the remainder of the week as well.

However, harness racing will continue, along with the JR Fair and Livestock Sale as well as entertainment at the Small Stage. Many of the food vendors are still serving concessions and admission is free.

Due to the soft ground, parking is very limited within the fairgrounds, but plenty of room is available across the road.
