Picklefest Returns This Saturday

ZANESVILLE, OH – Over the last few years, Pickleball courts have found themselves all over the country and in Zanesville. FoodWorks Alliance is leaning into the excitement with Picklefest this Saturday.

Starting at 8 a.m. at Riverside Park, a Pickleball tournament starts with additional things to do opening at 10. Face painting, food trucks, arts and craft vendors, and pickling demonstrations until 2 p.m.. The event has been organized as a fundraiser by FoodWorks Alliance.

“FoodWorks Alliance is a non-profit organization in South Zanesville. We’re on Pinkerton Lane. We help small and aspiring food businesses get their start by offering them membership to our kitchen incubator. They can rent the kitchen by the hour, they can store everything they need there and they get guidance on how to start and run their businesses via our partnerships,” said Amy Aurore, the executive director of FoodWorks Alliance

Anyone interested in competing in the Pickleball tournament will need to pay a $45 entry free with the funds going to a program ran by FoodWorks Alliance.

“This actual fundraisers for one of our in-house programs called “Recovery with a Purpose.” We help women in recovery from drugs and alcohol get a fresh start with work. We have them work in our kitchen for 12 weeks and they then move on to full time positions elsewhere. So this actual fundraiser directly benefits that program. So that obviously feels really awesome,” Aurore said.

There will also be a relay race and other games available for the children in attendance to play. Aurore said as of Monday they still have spots available in mixed doubles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles. For more information or to register for the tournament, you can visit FoodWorks Alliance’s website or their Facebook Page.
