180th Muskingum County Fair Kicks off on Sunday

ZANESVILLE, OH – The 180th Annual Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair is set to kick off on Sunday.

The Fair runs Sunday, August 16th through Saturday, August 22nd, with each day filled with fun, food, and supporting the local youth.

Jerry Miller, the President of the Muskingum County Fair Board, says Sunday is Veterans Day and they will be able to get in for free all day, followed by harness racing later in the day, and to cap off day 1 the National Tractor Pullers Association will be having their Truck and Tractor Pull show.

“All of the Junior Fair events that are going on all week long, there’s shows going on pretty much all day, everyday.” Miller said. “In all of the different buildings between the llama show on Sunday, they’ve got rabbit shows, and we’ve got the dairy shows.”

General Admission for the Fair is $10 for the day but children under 5 get in for free. There will also be some days this week where you could get in for an empty pop bottle.

On Monday is Stock the Trailer and for the price of 4 cans of vegetables, you can get into the fair, then on Friday if you bring in an empty 20oz plastic Pepsi bottle you can also get in for free.

Miller says this is just a great time to support and celebrate the 4H kids for their hard work over the last year.

“We’re looking forward to making this the best fair we’ve ever had.” Miller said. “For the last 180 years, and we’re hoping to grow from this point on.”
