The County Sheriff Tent at the Fair Offers More than Pamphlets and Stickers

The Muskingum County Fair is in full swing this week and today we took a look at the tent offering security and public outreach to this weeks events.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matthew Lutz and his deputies have a tent on the fairgrounds this week offering conversation, informational pamphlets, and peace of mind with security at the event.

“Well, obviously just being visible on the fairgrounds, having, you know, deputies around in case somebody needs them. You know, obviously we have deputies walk the midway and then we have also deputies that work the events in front of the grandstands, making sure everybody’s staying safe and make sure there’s no problems. We also have people working the parking lots, checking them to make sure there’s nothing going on with vandalism to the vehicles and that’s our main priority, is just, again, trying to patrol. Just do a general patrol in the fairgrounds to make sure everybody’s here for the right reasons and having a good time,” Lutz said.

Another service they are offering while you’re visiting the animals and riding rides is photo ID for your children, which Lutz says could be handy in an emergency.

“It’s basically a drivers sized ID card and we have your child, have your child’s picture put on it, their thumb print put on it with the information describing the child. Height and weight and that kind of thing. It’s just a, it’s just an extra benefit to have in case there would be a bad situation where your child would become missing. You would have the identification card to be able to present to law enforcement so at least they would have a starting point, to have a picture of the child and to have a description,” Lutz said.

You can see a map of where to find the sheriff’s tent and more at the Muskingum County Fair’s website.
