Turkeys Needed for the Annual Dinner
ZANESVILLE, OH –The Salvation Army in Zanesville is very hopeful this holiday season as they look to continue their annual Thanksgiving dinner.
You may know The Salvation Army for their red kettles and Christmas bells, but they also host food drives and holiday dinners. This year the Zanesville location would like to emphasize their need for volunteers and donations.
Cook Bill Gheen has worked at The Salvation Army for 44 years, he would like to encourage those who are able to donate to do so.
“We’re trying to reach out to the community for turkeys for our annual Thanksgiving dinner.”
It’s because of the generous donations that this dinner has been a tradition here in Zanesville for around 34 years. This is a great opportunity to help others and give back to the community.
“It’s a good experience to help others and see what we do. We get involved with others and they can see that,” Gheen said.
Turkey donations aren’t the only thing they’re looking to receive this year. Potatoes, corn and dressing are a few of their requested items, but they would appreciate anything that can be served at a typical Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner will fall on Wednesday November 27th this year.
