$2 Mistake Wins $250,000
A New Lexington convenient store proved to be very lucky for two people.
Woolfe’s Huff & Puff had two tickets match five numbers in Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing. The store ended up with two winning $250,000 tickets because clerk Naomi Mauller accidentally ordered a ticket for a customer with no Kicker.
"You can’t cancel the Mega tickets and I didn’t want to leave the store short so I paid the two dollars and I won $250,000 and if I see that guy I owe him a big hug," says Mauller.
Mauller learned of her win when her boss called her and informed her two winning tickets had been sold at Huff & Puff. Knowing about the duplicate tickets she went to the store to check her numbers.
"Truthfully I acted like a nut! I jumped up and down and screamed!" she says.
Mauller says she will use her winnings to pay off bills and help out her three adult children. She will also use the money to take care of her boyfriend’s 15-month-old son, who they recently received custody of after the boy’s mother passed away. Mauller says she’s hoping the publicity from her win will help re-unite the toddler David Hogue IIIwith his half-brother. They are asking if any one knows his where-a-bouts to contact Mauller at the Huff & Puff where she’ll continue working.
No word yet on who her winning customer was.
