Zane State holds career fair

ZANESVILLE, Ohio - Zane State College teamed up with Ohio Means Jobs this afternoon to hold a career fair for their students and adults.
Forty employers from educational, retail, health care, and many more companies were on site recruiting for potential candidates to hire.
Job seekers had the opportunity to attend resume writing and interviewing workshops, as well as receive a professional head shot to use on their social media profiles. Project Director of Ohio Means Jobs, Mark Birnbrich, said it’s great for students that attend to get experience meeting with employers in a professional environment.
“Well for student’s, it’s a great chance for them to go out and start learning what it is out there in the marketplace. With this being one of the first times they go out and meet with employers in this kind of environment, it does give them the opportunity to sort of see what they’re looking for,” said Birnbrich.
The Newark Police Department attended the career fair looking for individuals interested in law enforcement. Sergeant, Clint Eskins, had some advice for those looking to join the force.
“Folks who want to come into law enforcement, if they’re younger, we suggest out of high school, look at colleges. Go to college and get your degree. But it’s also a career field, let’s say you didn’t go to college, you can still get into this career field,” said Eskins.
As a job seeker, employers advise candidates to always come to career fairs prepared, and talk with as many companies as you can.
