2024 Women of Achievement Award Luncheon

ZANESVILLE, OH – Today, recipients of the Women of Achievement Awards met for a luncheon at the Zanesville Country Club.
This luncheon provided an opportunity for the winners to meet in person for the first time and strategize the future of the program.
The winners were individuals from diverse backgrounds and in various age groups.
Two of them were June Huey and Kassandra Settles. Huey received the Muskingum Family Y Lifetime Service Award and Settles received the Ethel Granger Shultz Young Adult Award.
These women shared why they thought they were chosen to be recipients.
“I think I’m receiving this for some of the things that I’ve done, in my jobs and when I worked out in California.” Huey said. “I worked in the department where they made the microchips for the [Apollo II, Eagle lunar module, and First Lunar Landing.] I was the head inspector for that.”
“I feel like I’m receiving this achievement because I have been doing a lot of grief work in our area.” Settles said. “Which hasn’t really been done until lately. I’ve also been having a few social work interns at my place of work from OU, so just trying to support young students who are trying to get into this profession as well.”
Two other recipients, Martha Pollock and Ann Hollingsworth, shared what it meant to them to be receiving this award.
“It’s very humbling,” Pollock said. “That peers and colleagues nominated me for this, and some students, so it’s exciting and humbling.”
“Receiving this award is a huge honor.” Hollingsworth said. “My mom was also a Women of Achievement recipient so I’m hopefully following in her footsteps, trying to empower young girls to be strong women and for them to know they can do whatever they want to do.”
