ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department will be hosting a half marathon and 5K event on the last Saturday in September.

ZMCHD Administrative Assistant Jacob Wilson explained how downtown revitalization construction has altered the routing and that it’s not too late to participate as a runner, volunteer or sponsor.

“This is our 6th annual Zanesville City Half Marathon,” Wilson said. “We have the 5K back again this year. This race is hosted by Southtown Gym, out of South Zanesville. And we’ve changed the course this year. So specifically, this year we’re doing a down and back style race. Starting in downtown from Zane’s Landing Park and we’re going to go all the way down to the Maysville High School and back up to Zane’s Landing Park, back through downtown.”

The 5K will follow the Zane’s Landing Trail toward Riverside Park before turning back and finishing at Zane’s Landing Park.

“People are welcome to sign up all the way until the day before the race and even the morning of the race,” Wilson said. “Normally, race registration costs $70 bucks but we have a special promo code for today though it’s TAKE5, all caps, TAKE5. And that’ll give you $5 dollars off. Bring you down to $65 dollars. Early registration people… or people who have registered early would have gotten a shirt and a swag bag with some goodies for the runners. We’ll have those available as supplies last.”

For further details and to register for the 7:30 a.m. Saturday, September 26th, event, you can visit the Zanesville City Half Marathon page at runsignup.com.
