A Minnesota man is charged after an I-70 accident

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A Minnesota truck driver was cited after an early morning accident on I-70 that shut down part of the highway in Zanesville.
27 year old Hersi Aden from Willmar, Minnesota was traveling east bound around 12:30 A.M. near the 7th street exit ramp. The semi tractor-trailer hydroplaned during a heavy rainstorm and turned sideways. The truck then slammed into a barrier and scooted across the bridges and stopped. Zanesville police department, Chief Kenneth Miller says there were multiple crews at the scene of the accident past 5 o’clock this morning.
“I had officers on the scene until about a quarter after five this morning and I know the EPA, EMA, and O-DOT were still on the scene for at least a couple more hours after that,” said Miller.
The Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency called the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency after a large amount of diesel fuel was spilled as a result of the accident and was cleaned up.
“We had to also call out to the street department to assist cause we had to close down sixth street so they wouldn’t be driving actually under the scene and then diverted the traffic around the accident scene on I-70 also cause it was closed down for a while to get the truck out of there, ” said Miller
Aden was charged with failure to control and was checked by EMT’s on scene. There were no injuries reported.
