Trulight Ministries holds ‘One Night in a Box’ event

ZANESVILLE, Ohio -Â Trulight Ministries will host a fundraising event tomorrow to raise awareness for the homeless community.
It is called ‘One Night in a Box.’ With a drug problem on the rise, and the number of homeless people increasing in the community, they hope that this event will bring awareness to community members.
Rain or shine, they will use the day tomorrow as an opportunity to minister. Executive Director, Ed Swartz, hopes to have a big turnout.
“There’s several of us that will be sleeping outside in a box here on the property, right along with some of the homeless. We will be out here to try and raise awareness to maybe those who don’t know or who aren’t aware of the homeless situation in Zanesville,” said Swartz.
Boxes have been donated by a local furniture store. As driver’s pass by the parking lot on Putnam Avenue, they hope people will realize how big of an issue the homeless population is.
“We are only doing this one night, but there are those that this is their lifestyle. This is that they had to adapt to, and not everyone is homeless because they wanna be. Some of them have just had situations in life that have just caused them to end up that way,” said Swartz.
Swartz still encourages people to come during the day, if they cannot stay out all night. Trulight hopes to raise enough money to finish their building before the winter sets in.
