Two Mifflin Twp Police Officers Shot

Mifflin Township- Two Mifflin Township Police Officers were shot during a traffic stop Wednesday evening.

It took place around 6:45pm. A press release from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said the officers initiated the stop when a passenger in the vehicle fled. The officers pursued the suspect, when he turned around, opened fire, striking both officers.

“Our focus right now is on the recovery of our injured officers and bringing the individual responsible to justice,” said Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin. “We are asking anyone with
information to come forward immediately.”

The driver has cooperated with investigators while the passenger remains at large. Charges have been filed against the suspect, 21-year-old Daveonte Dixon for one count of attempted murder and two counts of felonious assault.

Local, state and federal agencies are assisting in the search for the suspect.
