Accident briefly closes I-70 eastbound

BROWNSVILLE, Ohio – A multiple vehicle accident on I-70 closed the interstate for close to an hour and caused major delays.
According to Trooper James Coffland with the Granville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol a driver was heading eastbound near the Muskingum County-Licking County border when he attempted to change lanes to avoid a minor rear end accident. In the process of changing lanes he was struck in the driver side by a semi-truck. The contact forced the driver of the vehicle to spin out and crash into the right guardrail. The driver of the semi-truck did not stop and kept going eastbound towards Zanesville.
There were no reported injuries. Trooper said that neither the witness nor the driver of the vehicle were able to get a description of the semi-truck. Trooper Coffland said the odds of find the driver of the semi-truck are “slim-to-none.â€
Assisting the Highway Patrol on the accident was National Trail Volunteer Fire Department.
