Genesis holds first ‘Day of Recovery’ event

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Genesis Behavioral Health held their first ‘Day of Recovery’ event at Zane Landing Park.

This was the first event in the area to bring together mental health, drug and alcohol organizations, and community members all to one location.

Genesis hopes that by organizing this event it will make a positive impact on anyone that is recovering from addiction or mental illness.

Denise Williams, Manager of Therapeutic Services at Genesis Healthcare, said that those who attended the event were able to talk with the community agencies about available options for treatment.

“Community members have access to agencies and information and see what services are offered, said Williams. We have about 30 agencies represented here.”

Several speakers addressed those that attended including US Senator Rob Portman who talked about the comprehensive addiction and recovery act and how it’s helping turn the tide of addiction
