2nd Annual Color Waddle Walk/Run to Promote Mental Health

ZANESVILLE, OH – Get ready to lace up your sneakers for a blast from the past this weekend!

This Saturday, May 18th at 1 PM at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds, Drug Free Muskingum, the Muskingum County Suicide Prevention Coalition, and various other mental health agencies are inviting the community to the 2nd annual Color Waddle Walk/Run.

Celebrating May as Mental Health Awareness Month, this year’s theme is “Glow Back to the 80s”, shining a light on mental health. Participants are encouraged to dress in their best 80s attire.

“It is 80’s theme this year, so we are glowing back to the 80s. We have 17 blasting stations; they all work with mental health. With May being Mental Health Awareness Month, we are hoping to bring some awareness and education for that.,” Drug Free Muskingum Co-Founder Monica Batteiger said.

The Color Waddle requires a $10 participation fee, and all the proceeds will directly support the organizing coalitions in their work within the community, focusing on mental health prevention and education.

“It helps to keep the education and the awareness in the community for the mental health or suicide prevention. That is our goal, to keep that in our community,” Batteiger said.

To pre-register for the event, visit the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department’s website. You can also register on site this Saturday.
