4th Annual Resource Fair

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Muskingum County has many agencies and programs that can assist area families and individuals if only they knew those resources were available.
The Muskingum County Board of Developmental Disabilities invited many of those underutilized providers to participate in a resource fair that was held today at the Colony Square Mall.
“This is our fourth year having it and we’re really excited,” Muskingum County Board of Developmental Disabilities Community Outreach and Special Projects Coordinator Jenna Conaway said. “And we have resources from transportation, day programs, recreation, different kinds of community involvement, a little bit of everything. And it’s just a great way for folks to come out and really learn about all the community and all the different ways they can interact.”
The resource fair was created in 2023 to showcase the opportunities that are available for developmentally challenged teenagers wanting to become more involved in the community but vendor participation has since doubled and the spectrum of possibilities offer a far greater reach.
“There are a lot of tech companies here,” Conaway said. “So folks who have a disability and maybe would benefit from having tech supports in their home, reminding them to take medications or to help them with answering the door if they are concerned, to just get some help when needed. That is a big thing we have here and it’s super helpful for those with disabilities.”
45 vendors were on hand to communicate about the goods and services that they offer as hundreds of people walked table to table grabbing the free promotional items such as pens and wrist bands.
