53rd Annual New Concord Fireman’s Festival
Today New Concord Fireman’s Association wrapped up its annual festival with a parade featuring some of the county’s finest.
This is the 53rd year for the festival which acts as a fundraiser for the station, this year they are trying to raise enough money for a new thermal imaging camera.
"It’s a way to raise money for the community but also a good way for us to meet the people of the community. Get out and see some people in a non-emergency type basis, we don’t really get to do that very often," said Jason Moyer, NC Fireman’s Association President.
State Senator Troy Balderson, the Muskingum County Commissioners along with local fire departments participated in the parade down Main Street. Other festivities included food, games and a raffle.
"The turnout has been good. It’s been hot but so far we’ve been very fortunate we had fireworks last night, we had a really good turnout for, we’re hoping for a good turnout tonight for our raffle and our chicken dinner," added Moyer.
Money raised in the past has gone to the purchase of a new ambulance, putting firemen through training and helped out with station repairs.
