5th Annual Zanesville City Half Marathon

ZANESVILLE, OH- The rain today didn’t stop the determined runners who participated in the 5th Annual Zanesville City Half Marathon.

The half marathon began early this morning at Secrest Auditorium. The route took runners through historic parts of Zanesville, including over the Y-Bridge and back to Secrest Auditorium to finish.

“This one is for finishing it, and that is critical, and this is third place in my age group which is 60-69 female, and I started running six years ago and haven’t stopped since, running is for everybody,” said Zanesville City Half Marathon participant, Linda Gates-Tucker

Participants were supportive of each other and made sure to cheer on one another. Many runners ran in groups which helped to push them through the rain and hills.

“I come from the Run Columbus group and we have a really good time, that’s the main purpose is to just have a good time and run with friends and fellowship and whatnot, we cheer each other on, some finish really soon, some of us not so much but we have a good time doing it, and the hills are challenging so we like that, we like a good challenge and it’s a lot more hilly than Columbus is, so this is a good preparation for those of us who are running in the Columbus full,” said Gates-Tucker.
