7-Year-Old Boy in Hospital after Falling in Icy Pond
A 7-year-old Pataskala boy is MedFlighted to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus after falling through an icy pond.
The Hocking County Sheriff’s Office says Cyrus Hanson was at a family birthday party in Laurelville, Ohio when he and another boy snuck outside unattended. Officers say the boys were walking on an icy pond in the backyard, when Cyrus fell through. They say the other boy tried to save Cyrus but couldn’t, so he went to get help. When crews arrived at the scene, they say they found adults from the home in the water searching for the boy. The adults were treated at the scene so they wouldn’t succumb to hypothermia.
It’s not clear right now how long Cyrus was under the icy water, but crews say they were finally able to pull him out. The Hocking County Sheriff’s Office says crews were working on the boy before he was MedFlighted to the hospital with his mother.
Nationwide Children’s Hospital says it isn’t releasing any information on Cyrus’ condition at this time.
