ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Runners were wearing their patriotic attire Thursday at the Muskingum Recreation Center for the 7th Annual Red, White, and Run 5-K.

Event and Program Manager, Becky Weir said this year’s run was by far the biggest one the Rec Center has seen. Weir said the support was great and seeing everyone wearing the red, white and blue was beautiful. They also had a family fun run and walk which was a mile long.

Weir said “Well, we had over 200 people check-in and we had 269 sign up so that is a pretty phenomenal thing to happen and we are just so happy and God bless America today.” Weir added “I just think it’s wonderful for everybody. We thank everybody that came out today and we are just so proud that we’re Americans.”

During the family fun run, it wasn’t just limited to people, even the family pets enjoyed the mile. They also had all kinds of activities, including bounce houses, snow cones and more. 5-K runner Hayley DeVoll said this is an opportunity to put aside differences, and all come together as one.

“You know, it is a great day for us to all celebrate, whether we support each other in certain causes or not, we all come together and celebrate each other today so it means a lot,” DeVoll said.

Weir said thank you to all of the runners, the Zanesville Fire Department, and to the sponsors for making this year’s race such a success.
