Muskingum Behavioral Health, CEO Steve Carell worked the local drop-off point.

“We had 81 cars come through, which is a good number and there were 98 pounds of pills that we sent to the DEA for incineration,” Carrel said.

Carell described the event as busy and successful.

“We take everything out of the bottles. The bottles go some place else. We take the labels off [the bottles] that go for recycling, or if the labels are too hard to take off, we throw them into another box that will be incinerated as well,” Carell said.

Carell said you do not have to wait for National Drug take Back Day to safely dispose of your unwanted drugs. There’s a 24 hour drop box located at the county jail.
