The Red Kettle Kick Starts the Season

The Salvation Army kicked off their Red Kettle Campaign at Colony Square mall Saturday morning.
The Salvation Army is out trying to raise funds to buy toys and food that they will give away in Christmas baskets for the community.
"It’s a great feeling to know that the winter is coming and that’s not always the best thing but, to know when our kettle’s go out that all the money that’s raised through the Salvation Army is going to go back to those that are in need," Dustin Redmond.
The Salvation Army has played an important role some lives in the community. Salvation Army board member, Linda Regula told us, without the Salvation Army as a child her family wouldn’t have had a Christmas. She joined the Salvation Army because, she wants to help the organization that helped her.
"Without the Salvation Army, we would’ve never had a Christmas, nor would have never had descent clothes to wear school." She went on to say, "I have tried to give back and to be around other people who are doing the same, who care about the poor, who care about people who don’t have the same opportunities that other’s do. That’s where my heart lies, because, that’s where I came from," said Regula.
The kettles go out Monday morning at 10 a.m. Captain care will be out passing out candy and taking photos with the kids. For more information you can call the Salvation Army at 740-452-8350.
