‘Shop with a Cop’ Provides Gifts for Local Kids
The Fraternal Order of Police took to north Walmart Monday night to give local children a checked off Christmas list.
The annual ‘Shop with a Cop’ helped 31 families stuff their stockings and President of the FOPA Jim Hicks said it does just as much for the officers as it does for the families.
“It’s great,” said Hicks. “The officers love it. They spend time with the little kids. The K-9 comes and interacts with the kids and stuff and it’s just a great time. ”
Officers and families flooded the isles and filled up their carts and the FOPA raises money all year to make it happen. Hicks said he hopes it shows officers in another light for kids.
“We’ve been doing this now for I think it’s about 10 years and it’s just something that we do to have a positive interaction with the children,” said Hicks.
The FOP would like to thank anyone who made donations to help them achieve their goal this holiday season.
