Construction to Begin on Outdoor Recreation Center

A project three years in the making will see the completion of the first phase in the coming months.
Construction of the ‘Zemba Family Fitness Trail’ has begun. The three quarter mile circular trail will rest on the Fieldhouse campus and feature handicap accessibility as well as at least six basic anaerobic stations, all free to the community.
“Obviously when you’re building something special needs it makes it wider,” said CEO of Fieldhouse Family of Companies. “It makes it more accessible and it’s also a great environment for every able bodied mom, dad, kid, bike, baby jogger, wheelchair, motorized scooter for an older senior that really can’t go on a traditional work but wants the amenities of being outdoors.”
The trail is the first element in a larger recreation project at the Fieldhouse. The next step will be a splash pad which will also be accessible to those in wheelchairs and in the next three to five years the campus will see batting cages, bumper boats, putt putt, and more. Amicone said the field house wants to expand the way they serve families in the local community.
“We’re constantly hearing there’s just not enough for families to do,” said Amicone. “Well we are a family facility and we want to keep those families here, obviously, spending their dollars, visiting their restaurants, doing their recreation.”
Amicone said the project will be funded through national, regional, and local sponsors like Pepsi, Lowes, Autozone, Fanatics, Orthopedic Associates of Zanesville, the Graham family, and Williamson Insurance. He said without their help, such a large project would be impossible. The fitness trail is set to open in March, weather permitting.
