Organizers Prepare For 'family Field Day'

Sunday marks the 16th Annual Zemba Brothers ‘Family Field Day’ and if you don’t mind getting a little dirty, this is the place to be.

The family fun event will take place at 495 Rock Cut Rd. from 11 a.m until 4 p.m, rain or shine. A special lunch will be provided for just a buck that includes Dominio’s pizza, Conn’s potato chips and drinks.

"16 years ago the brothers of the company had this crazy idea of creating this event to have an opportunity for the kids in our community to come out and do something they might never have and opportunity to do in their life. Such as run heavy equipment rides, we have an operator that will be in there with them so they’ll be able to sit in there and run the controls and dig in the dirt," said Troy Hindel, Zemba Bros. Inc. ‘Family Field Day’ Coordinator.

During the event the children will be able enjoy hay rides, a straw maze, pony rides and a bounce house. Hindel said this year they are also introducing something new at field day.

"This year we got a reptile education program. A guy is going to come with some reptiles and the kids will be able to hold them and talk to the instructor about what species they are and just a lot of fun," said Hindel.

Hindel said the admission is free to the public but, they ask attendees to bring a canned food item to benefit Eastside Community Ministry in exchange for parking.
