Upcoming Summer Events At Muskingum Recreation Center

The Muskingum Recreation Center will be hosting an event for National Senior Health & Fitness Day on Wednesday, May 25th, 9:00am – 3:00pm.

Seniors will get free access to the rec centers exercise equipment and fitness floor, senior group classes, information from a variety of speakers on health topics, health screenings, healthy snacks, and more.

They will be also hosting a Free Community Water Safety Day on Saturday, June 11th from 11am to 12:30pm. Susan Bowen, Aquatics and Sports Manager, said that registration is now open and that it will be a very educational and practical session.

“It will start with a presentation that will teach parents and children about how to be safe in the water and what to do if someone were to get in trouble. After the presentation we will go into the pool and teach them some skills on how to be a better swimmer,” said Bowen.

“After the safety class, we will also be hosting a CPR class from 1pm to 1:30pm for participants who would like to learn hands-only CPR training.”

Cost for the CPR training is $10 per person.

The rec center is also hosting a summer 4-on-4 Adult Basketball League on June 4th.

“It’ll run through June to the beginning of August. Registration starts on May 27th from June 9th. Our league will be four on four with a max roster of seven. It will be $175 per team, you’ll get at least ten games and there will be a concluding season tournament,” said Tony Zaleski, Exercise Specialist for the Muskingum Recreation Center.
