Organizers call ‘K9 Party in the Park’ a Success!
The New Lexington K9 Unit held it’s 1st ‘K9 Party in the Park’ event Saturday afternoon.
Patrol Sergeant, William Dodd said the K9 unit is run solely on donations from the community and all of the proceeds from Saturday’s event will be used to keep the K9 unit on the streets of New Lexington.
“Our key thing is everything runs by donation on the equipment, additional training, medical bills, safety equipment for the handler as myself and the dog. The idea formed about 6 years ago trying to do different ideas and trying to make contacts with everyone and getting other ideas of wanting to explain to the community how K9s can benefit communities,” said Sgt. Dodd.
Police Chief, Scott Ervin said it a takes combined effort from law enforcement agencies and community members to make a difference.
“I think it shows a positive interaction between the law enforcement and the people in the community, the networking that’s involved not just with the citizens but, with the other agencies that are presented here from not only within the county but outside the county.” Chief Ervin.
