Saying Goodbye To Good Samaritan Hospital

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Dozens of area residents gather to say their final goodbyes to local landmark.

Genesis Healthcare System invited local residents out to join the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity today to celebrate their continued legacy at Genesis Hospital and officially say farewell to the Good Samaritan Hospital building.

"In a few months we’re going to say goodbye to the building behind us. We wanted an opportunity for people to get together nurses, doctors, people who used to be on the board to come together and share their memories," said Kelley Daspit Director of Marketing and Public Relation- Genesis Healthcare. "Although it’s a building, this building has been the center part of the communities healthcare for so many years and it’s been in of a community that completely embraced it and made it successful."

Daspit said it’s important for the community to understand that it’s just a building and the wonderful people that take care of their patients everyday are still here, at the new Genesis Hospital.

"I want them to realize that the legacy is still going on and so a lot of the things that were here at Good Sam we’ve taken with us to Genesis," said Daspit. "They can see some of the St. Francis statues, some of the glass that was at the new chapel. There is a whole history wall that they can see at the new hospital."

Right now companies are currently preparing to get the building ready for demolition.
