Team Godspeed Hosts its 12th Annual Track and Field Camp

Nearly 88 young track and field athletes are getting some expert training this week.

Team Godspeed is hosting its 12th Annual Track and Field Camp this week. The program started today at Zanesville High School. Each camper has the opportunity to work with several high profile coaches in various events. Team Godspeed, President Patrick Pugh said this is their way of giving back to the community.

“Introducing kids to track helping them own their skills, helping them get better at their individual events. We got some on the best coaches in the mid-west here really. We have a coach from Ohio State, we have Wayne Clark who has coach through out the mid-west many camps,” said Pugh.

The two day camp is for children in grades pre-school through high school. Pugh said there will be a free track meet on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.

“It goes on today and tomorrow, so for the younger kids it’s a half day and then for the older kids it goes from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. If someone sees this and says hey, I didn’t know about it and they want to walk up tomorrow they are welcome to come,” said Pugh.

Pugh said proceeds from the camp will go to help with Godspeed’s Y-City Mile.
