Falls Township Fire Department Gears Up for Annual Chicken BBQ
ZANESVILLE, Ohio –The Falls Township Fire Department is gearing up for its biggest fundraiser of the year.
It’s been a tradition of theirs for the past 53 years to hold the Annual Father’s Day Barbecue at located at 3095 Dillon Falls Rd. Each meal will include half a chicken, applesauce, coleslaw, chips, one drink and a roll. Lt. Jacob Gates said over 1700 dinners will be sold.
“It supports our fire department in a specific operation or discipline. We use that addition funding for something specific such as additional fire EMS equipment that we can’t normally afford such as our dive team or something special that’s new and up incoming,” said Lt. Gates.
Each meal cost $8 and doors open at 11 a.m. Lt. Gates advises folks to get there early because dinners usually sell-out around 12:30 p.m.
“These dinners are prepared by our volunteers and our fire-fighters that come in on their time off. We really enjoy being able to interact with our community and have them here to support us,” said Lt. Gates.
Lt. Gates said last year they raised around $3,000 and this year they plan to exceed that amount.
