Severe Weather Safety Tips from the Red Cross

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – With the threat of severe weather in Southeast Ohio, the Red Cross is advising area residents to be fully prepared.

Executive Director of the Southeast Ohio Chapter, Marlene Henderson urges locals to keep a three day survival kit in case of an emergency and to have a plan for you and your family.

“The best place to meet in the house if there is strong winds coming and you feel the need to seek shelter the best place of course is the basement away from any glass. If you don’t have a basement the center of the house, a bathroom,” said Henderson.

Henderson also suggest you download the Red Cross App to better assist you with additional steps to take to stay safe.

“Go to the app store, we have about 13 of them I think. Everything on how to prepare for a storm, what to pack in a kit, first aid, CPR, pet first aid and also where to find shelters,” said Henderson.
