Writing/Righting the World
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Area students who share a passion for writing have the opportunity to learn new writing techniques this summer.
During Writing/Righting the World |Â Creative Writing Summer Camp area students will learn three main genres: Fiction, Poetry, and Creative Non-Fiction. Students will alternate between the three genres and their assigned venues: Fiction at the Zanesville Museum of Art, Poetry at Ohio University Zanesville, and Creative Non-Fiction at the Muskingum County Library, Zanesville location.
“It’s really important for students who are especially interested in creative writing to have an outlet for it, which there aren’t that many in this area so we were very passionate about bringing this to students from 6th to 9th grade because, that’s a really important time in our lives when we’re deciding who we are and what we want to be,” said Lisa Haven, Associate Professor of English, Ohio University of Zanesville.
Camp Participate, Kylie Kennedy said during camp she hopes to improve her writing and meet new people that share her same passion.
“I really, really like this experience because, I’m able to interact with with people that really have the same passion as me. Which is not really common especially in my school because, people don’t love writing just as I do. To be able to converse with them and share my ideas it just really means a lot to me,” said Kennedy.
Organizers said they hope to have this camp annually.
